Kindergarten just finished up their study of line. We created lines that made crazy hair, lines that created an entire adventure with Harold and the Purple Crayon, and lines that helped a rocket blast off! But that wasn't all we also learned that lines don't have to be flat on a page! We created 3-D roller coasters with paper "lines" and pipe cleaner sculptures also! In the rush to get all of these awesome projects out the door for fall break, I didn't photograph nearly as many as I would have like to, but I am guessing that you have seen all of these by now anyhow! This past week was all about fall textures so we did leaf printing and rubbings and talked about fall colors!
1st & 2nd grade worked really hard this week completing 2 projects! One with spooky trees and concentric circles, and one that you will see very soon of Georgia O'Keeffe pumpkins! The kids will revisit the concentric circles this week as we study shapes. In our study of Georgia O'Keeffe the kids had a blast pretending they were a tiny little bug painting an amazing pumpkin that literally BURSTS off the page!
3rd, 4th and 5th grades worked on larger than life Indian corn paintings this week. We studied Georgia O'Keeffe and abstract painting. We also learned a little bit about corn. The kids did an amazing job on these and are excited to paint them this week!
6th grade is working with one point perspective! They learned how to make any shape 3 dimensional and practiced by picking a fall word and making it 3-D. They did a great job and I cant wait to see how they come out in the coming week! Rumor has it that they have been making 3-D pictures any time they have the chance even outside art class! LOVE it!
